KWEA is comprised of over 500 water quality specialists from the state of Kansas including engineers, biologists, government officials, wastewater treatment facility operators, laboratory technicians, university professors, students, equipment manufacturers, and distributors.

From these members, seventeen committees and their chairs strive
to maintain the goals of the organization.

The association's mission is to enhance the fundamental knowledge
of the water environment, stimulate public interest, and advance technology through information transfer on the design, operation, management, and construction of wastewater treatment facilities.
